DEMING, Wash. – Two people were arrested after attempting to torch their way into a storage container.
Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deb Slater said that deputies were called for a security check at a home in the 6500 block of the Mount Baker Highway at around 4:45 Thursday morning, November 17th.
Security footage showed the suspects using a torch to break into the container.
The suspects left before deputies arrived, but left their car abandoned across the street.
Investigators recovered two large tanks of gas and the torch, along with the stolen property from the storage container.
The suspects were found hiding in nearby bushes, and were taken into custody.
44-year-old Adam Spry and 47-year-old Daniel Williams each face burglary, theft, and malicious mischief charges.
The investigation caused part of the Mount Baker Highway to close for two hours.
