WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two women from Washington state have been chosen to take part a NASA mission to return humans to the moon for the first time since 1972.

NASA announced that Kayla Barron from Richland and Anne McClaine of Spokane are among the 18 astronauts chosen for the Artemis Team.

The astronauts of the Artemis Team will help NASA prepare for the coming Artemis missions that will land the first woman and the next man on the moon by 2024.
