BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Upcoming watermain flushing in Bellingham may cause unusually colored tap water.

The City of Bellingham says that if the watermains aren’t flushed out periodically, mineral deposits can build up inside the pipes and damage their water system.

While it may cause temporary discoloration of water that could stain white clothes in the laundry, the City says it’s not harmful to human health.

Crews will be flushing Bellingham watermains from April 15-May 3.
