BLAINE, Wash. – Two women are under arrest after deputies say they were caught stealing from Birch Bay mail boxes over the weekend.

A Whatcom County Sheriff’s spokesperson says deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at about 11 p.m. Saturday, August 21st.

They stopped a car on Alderson Road and the driver, 37-year-old Sarah Brown of Blaine, gave them permission to search the vehicle.

They found 89 pieces of mail from 49 different addresses along with methamphetamine, baggies and a scale.

Brown told deputies that her passenger, 28-year-old Clarissa Miranda of Bellingham, helped her steal the mail.

Both were booked into Whatcom County Jail.
