OLYMPIA, Wash. – The nation’s largest chicken producer has been ordered to pay up in response to a state lawsuit.

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson said that Tyson Foods must pay the state of Washington $10.5 million after an investigation determined the company purposefully drove up the prices of chicken products.

The lawsuit adds that 90% of Washington residents were impacted as a result of the price hiking.

Ferguson’s investigation and subsequent lawsuit found that Tyson Foods, along with 18 other chicken producers, had been overcharging consumers since at least 2008.

Tyson Foods said in a statement that they will continue to cooperate with AG Ferguson’s investigation.
