ANACORTES, Wash – A u- turn gone wrong ended up with a trip to the hospital for an Anacortes motorcyclist Saturday.
The Washington State Patrol reports the crash happened when an Illinois driver northbound on March’s Point Road near the Swinomish Golf Course made an abrupt U-turn at about 6 a.m.
The driver did not see the motorcycle behind him, which was driven by 27- year old Bradley Kertis of Anacortes.
Kertis did not have time to avoid a collision; his Kawasaki motorcycle was totaled and he had to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center for his injuries.
Troopers say the cause of the crash was inattention; charges are pending against the driver of the car.
