BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The number of people working in Whatcom County went down slightly in August but the unemployment rate stayed steady.
The Employment Security Department reports we had a local unemployment rate of 4.4% last month, identical to July.
It was down from the 4.9% rate we had a year ago.
The statewide jobless rate was 4.5% in August.
