OLYMPIA, Wash. — The unemployment rate in Washington is the lowest it’s been in forty-two years.
The Seattle Times reports the rate has been at or below 5 percent for 23 consecutive months, hitting 4.5 percent in August and dropping to 4.4 in September.
Retail trade saw the strongest job gains in September with lots of increased employment and almost 100,000 total jobs have been added across the state in the last year.
The national average unemployment rate is 3.7 percent.
