OLYMPIA, Wash. — More confusion for Washington State residents receiving unemployment payments.
The Employment Security Department told KIRO they sent a notice about a week’s worth of overpayment to about 15,000 people then later sent an email.
The group affected was recipients of federal pandemic unemployment assistance.
A notice recipient said she received a follow-up email putting the overpayment notice on hold, urging claimants to keep filing weekly.
ESD Commissioner Suzi LeVine released a statement says notice recipients can continue to file for benefits such as Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation newly available from the recent COVID-19 federal relief package, while cases relating to some November and December claims are reviewed.
