BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Whatcom Unified Command and PeaceHealth are stepping in to help Shuksan continue to provide meals and care to its residents.
A number of PeaceHealth nurses and nursing assistants have volunteered to provide fulltime care for Shuksan residents for at least four weeks.
They won’t work at any other facilities during their time at Shuksan and will be furloughed with pay for two weeks after ending their work there.
PeaceHealth is also providing residents with three meals a day that are transported by WTA.
And Unified Command is working on a plan to further clean Shuksan Healthcare Center.
