BELLINGHAM, Wash. — United Way is awarding $850,000 in grants to 34 local non-profit programs that help fight financial instability in Whatcom County by providing vocational supports, parenting supports and more.

Goodwill’s local job training programs and the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center are among the newest awardees.

United Way of Whatcom County works to help break the cycle of poverty and get people back on their feet.

Local contributors that make the grants possible include BP Cherry Point Refinery, WECU, Phillips 66 in Ferndale and PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.
