BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Through United Way of Whatcom County’s partnership with FamilyWize, a medication price negotiator who offers cards to save on drug costs, they have helped local residents save $1.3 million on prescription medications.
Those savings are spread across 10,000 people in Whatcom County and are related to both physical and mental health.
Insurance premiums under the Washington Health Exchange are set to increase 19% this year, and with 39% of Whatcom County residents struggling to make ends meet, United Way says these discounts can be life-saving.
Nationwide, their collaboration with FamilyWize has helped more than 11 million Americans save more than $1 billion.
