SEATTLE, Wash. — Specialists at UW Medicine in Seattle are reacting to the news that President Trump and the First Lady are infected with the coronavirus.
News reports say the president has been transferred to Walter Reed Medical Center for treatment, and UW infectious disease expert Dr. John Lynch says there are several treatments he’s likely to receive there, including an antiviral treatment and a steroid medication to help support his oxygen levels.
He says contact tracers go back two days before a person started showing symptoms, which would include those the president encountered during the first debate on Tuesday.
Former Vice President Joe Biden says he’s tested negative.
