BELLINGHAM, Wash. –  The State Patrol is conducting a “Secure Your Load” emphasis patrol Friday through Sunday.

The Patrol says unsecured loads caused 170 crashes and 16 injuries in Washington last year.

Troopers contacted over six thousand drivers with unsecured loads in 2017.

Not properly tying things down can bring a $228 ticket and even criminal charges if something falling off a vehicle causes injuries or damage.
