BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Police evacuated the Bellingham Regal 16 Theaters in Barkley Village Sunday afternoon after a person made a bomb threat during a showing of the new Avengers movie.
The person shouted the threat, causing movie-goers to panic and run for the exits.
A Bellingham Police Department spokesperson says an armed citizen followed the suspect out of the building and held him until police arrived.
Officers arrested 27-year-old Ryan Nolan MacFarlane for making a bomb threat.
The Hazardous Devices Unit investigated a backpack the suspect was carrying and didn’t find any explosives.
A K-9 sweep of the theaters also didn’t turn up any explosives inside.
No one was injured.
