A 44 year old Upper Skagit Tribal member was convicted of three felonies today (Friday) in connection with a shooting on February 6, 2019 on the Tulalip Indian Reservation.
Joseph Sam, a.k.a. William Earlystar Clark was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.
According to court documents, Sam participated in a conspiracy to rob the victim of an ounce of heroin with two co-conspirators.
When the victim fought back, Sam shot him in the back, paralyzing the victim from the waist down.
Sam was arrested on May 15, 2019 following investigation, and now awaits sentencing.
