SEATTLE, Wash. — Researchers at the University of Washington have begun a clinical trial of an experimental COVID-19 vaccine.
A Phase 3 clinical trial in volunteers will help determine the effectiveness of a Novavax vaccine candidate in protecting against the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
Up to 1,000 volunteers will be enrolled in the trial.
A spokesperson for UW Medicine says the vaccine is based on technology similar to what’s been used to make vaccines for many years and is considered a very safe approach to vaccine design.
