A predicted last-place finish is not exactly the welcome Jody Wynn was hoping for from the other Pac-12 coaches. That’s what the new leader of the Washington Husky women’s basketball team got. During Wednesday’s media day, the Huskies were picked to finish last in the Pac-12 by conference coaches in a preseason poll.

Wynn, who coached for eight season at Long Beach State, takes over a program that went 29-6 last season and made it to the final four in the 2015-2016 campaign.

The low expectations are understandable. Washington has to replace Kelsey Plum, the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer and UW career rebounding leader Chantel Osahor.

The UCLA Bruins topped the poll with seven first place votes. Oregon and Stanford round out the top-3. The Washington State Cougars are picked to finish 7th, matching their conference finish last year.
