GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Western Washington University women’s golf team completed the 2018-19 regular season with a 13th place finish at the Mustang Intercollegiate on Saturday at Palm Valley Golf Club.
WWU fired a final-round score of 23-over-par 311, four shots behind the team’s first-round score of 307. The Vikings will not prepare for the upcoming Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships.
Junior Lacy Sheldon carded back-to-back rounds of 4-over-par 76 to finish in a tie for 33rd place at 8-over-par 152. Freshman Sarah Shea put the finishing touches on a solid tournament performance with a 6-over-par 78 on Saturday to tie with Sheldon in 33rd place in the 113-player field.
Sophomore Megan Billeter recorded a 5-over-par 77 in the final round to finish in a tie for 63rd at 13-over-par for the tournament. Billeter was 2-over-par with 5 birdies through her first 17 holes on Saturday, before finishing with a triple-bogey on the final hole.
Sophomore Katelann Soth also tied for 63rd with rounds of 77-80 to finish at 13-over-par 157 in her first tournament appearance of the season.
West Texas A&M won the team title finishing the 36-hole tournament at 7-over-par 583 for a 3-stroke victory over second-place Colorado State-Pueblo.
Oklahoma Christian’s Abigail Rigsby won individual medalist honors winning the first playoff hole with a birdie. She finished the tournament in a five-way tie at 1-under-par 143.
The Mustang Intercollegiate concluded the regular-season portion of the 2018-19 schedule, with WWU next competing at the GNAC Championships April 22-23 at Coeur d’Alene Golf Resort in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The winner of the two-day conference tournament will receive an automatic bid into the 12-team field at the NCAA II West/South Central Regional that will be played May 6-8 in Amarillo, Te
