LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Western Washington University softball team had its Saturday games at the Desert Stinger canceled due to steady rain and unplayable field conditions at Majestic Park.

The Vikings were scheduled to play Stanislaus State at 11:30 am and No. 23 UC San Diego at 2 pm. Fields were declared unplayable at 9:40 am by tournament officials, at which point the tournament entered a weather delay with a tentative start time for games at 2 pm. Further evaluation of playing conditions at approximately 12:15 pm, along with an unfavorable weather forecast for the remainder of the day, resulted in the decision to cancel all games scheduled for Saturday.

All games scheduled for Sunday will be played on time until further notice, with WWU slated to play No. 10 nationally-ranked Concordia-Irvine at 2 pm.

The Vikings went 1-1 during the first day of the tournament to open the 2019 season, defeating Cal State Dominguez Hills 8-0 and then falling to No. 7 Chico State 12-2.
