OLYMPIA, WASH. (AP) – While Seattle had a fairly peaceful May Day, protests turned violent in Olympia and Portland, Oregon.
Olympia Police arrested nine people who threw rocks and injured several officers.
To the south, Portland police shut down a protest they say became a riot when demonstrators began throwing smoke bombs and Molotov cocktails at police.
They arrested more than two dozen people.
