BELLINGHAM, Wash. — People will be counting bicycles and pedestrians around Bellingham for the next few days.

The City of Bellingham says Bellingham is an official “count city” for the tenth year as part of the Washington State Department of Transportation’s annual initiative to record statewide walking and cycling numbers.

Volunteers will be on Bellingham roads Tuesday through Thursday this week counting the number of people who choose to walk or ride bikes as their means of transportation.

Bellingham Transportation Technician Chris Beyer says the numbers will help determine where the City should invest in bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects.
