OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Secretary of State’s office is asking voters not to lick their primary ballot envelope.

Instead, they encourage voters who haven’t yet submitted their ballots to seal envelopes using an alternative method, like a wet sponge or cloth.

SOS spokesperson Kylee Zabeel told Q-13 Fox that the advice comes from the state Department of Health.

Zabeel said that In an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the department will also encourage election workers to use gloves when opening ballots.
