Washington adds more jobs in January

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The employment picture continues to brighten in our state.

The Employment Security Department reports Washington’s economy added 6,800 jobs in January, resulting in a seasonally adjusted 4.7% unemployment rate.

Private sector employment added 7,100 jobs while the public sector lost 300 jobs.

Nationwide, the unemployment rate was 4.1% in January.
