OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington is considered one of the safer states for motorcyclists.

QuoteWizard, which helps compare insurance rates, looked at 2017 statistics of fatal crashes per 10,000 registered motorcycles.

It found Washington, with more than 230,000 registered motorcycles, had only about 3 deaths per 10,000, making it the 9th safest state in the nation.

Mississippi was the worst at about 14 deaths, while Montana ranked the best with less than 1, despite having more than 300,000 registered motorcycles.
