OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington sent 12 Department of Ecology crew members to help with the Hurricane Florence relief efforts in South Carolina.
The Washington Conservation Corps team, which flew out Friday for the month-and-a-half long assignment, will strip down storm-damaged homes to prevent dangerous mold growth and help manage other support tasks.
Recovery efforts have been ongoing since Florence brought torrential rain and severe flooding to the Carolinas mid-September, killing more than 50 people.
