Ferry travelers in Washington State could now face even more delays over the upcoming holiday weekend.

A group of employees are planning to stage a “sick out” in protest of the governor’s COVID vaccine mandate.

WSDOT says that the reservation system has been shut down ahead of the planned protests.

Many crew members are already calling out sick, as the COVID Delta variant has many employees in quarantine.

No new reservations are available for either the Anacortes-San Juan Islands or Port Townsend-Coupeville Routes between Friday, September 3rd and Monday, September 6th.
