OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington is among eight states that the World Trade Organization has found gave improper tax or financial incentives to domestic producers of renewable energy systems, such as for solar and wind power.
In the complaint filed by India, the WTO found the states gave preferential treatment to domestic products over imported products.
But a U.S. official says several of the panel’s findings were “effectively moot” because the measures had already expired and some others offered small financial incentives.
Other states involved in the complaint were California, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana.
