OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington is one of the least energy-expensive states in the nation.

Personal finance website WalletHub compared all fifty states and D.C. to find 2018’s most energy-expensive states, looking at categories like average monthly bills and electricity price.

Overall, WalletHub ranked Washington the third least energy-expensive state, beat only by Colorado and D.C.

The state’s low energy costs are likely due to its temperate climate, meaning heating and cooling units stay idle most of the year.
