OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Senate took an hour of its schedule Friday, January 28th, to remember and honor 42nd District Senator Doug Ericksen.

Senators of both parties spoke about Sen. Ericksen in glowing terms, remembering his intelligence, wit, charm and warmth.

Lt. Governor Denny Heck, presented his wife and two daughters with an American flag that flew over the state capitol on the day of his memorial service in December.

“This entire chamber, and it’s entire membership, as so eloquently expressed by so many,” said Heck. “Extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to you and our voice of gratitude to Senator Ericksen for his service.”

Senator Ericksen represented Whatcom County’s 42nd District in the state House and Senate for a total of 23 years.

He passed away in December after contracting COVID-19.
