WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell are among elected leaders speaking out following a school shooting in Texas on Tuesday, May 24th.

Murray is calling for what she calls “common-sense, popular legislation to help prevent gun violence.”

She blames her Republican colleagues for blocking proposed laws.

Cantwell isn’t pointing fingers in her statement, but urges passage of further background check and red flag laws.

1st District U.S. Representative Susan DelBene is calling on her colleagues in the House to move gun legislation forward.

Nineteen children and two teachers were killed in the shooting at Robb Elementary School in the south Texas city of Uvalde.
