OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington state legislature is back in session for 60 days starting tomorrow with democrats newly in the majority in the Senate and already controlling the House and Governor’s office.

On the docket is passing a capital budget, and water policy stemming from the 2016 Hirst decision which effectively limited water rights of rural Washington landowners.

Also up for consideration is addressing the Supreme Court order on education funding and a carbon tax proposal, which Seattle Democrat and House Speaker Frank Chopp told the News Tribune “does not have the greatest chance of passing”.

In a news release, House Republicans said they will work to limit spending and regulation this year, even though they are in the minority.
