OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington, Oregon and California have issued COVID-19 travel advisories.

The advisories urge people entering those states or returning from travel outside those states to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

A statement from California Governor Gavin Newsom’s office Friday says the advisories urge against non-essential out-of-state travel, ask people to self-quarantine for 14 days after arriving from another state or country and encourage residents to stay local.

COVID-19 cases in Whatcom County are surging and Whatcom County Health Department Director Erika Lautenbach says that’s due in large part to people traveling in and out of the county.
