In a recent study published by Move.Org, Washington was ranked as the 10th most expensive state to purchase groceries.

According to data, the average Washington resident pays $402.08 for groceries every month, $46.58 more than the national average of $355.50.

With the exception of Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, the highest prices are all eastern or southern states.

Move.Org, a website compiling resources for moving, gathered information from the world’s largest cost of living database, Numbeo, to rank each state.
