OLYMPIA, Wash. — If you’re looking for a nice place to retire, Washington is a bad choice, as Bankrate.com ranks the state the eighth worst to retire in.
Bankrate analyst Taylor Tepper says those key categories Washington struggled in were cost of living, weather and crime, all of which dragged our ranking down.
When you think of the best place to retire, South Dakota may not be what pops into mind, but Tepper says it’s not just about sunshine when considering where to retire, it’s about what’s best for you personally.
He says the hope is that this study will help give people a “sophisticated thinking and understanding of retirement.”
