CHELAN, Wash. — Washington received a multi-million dollar federal loan for rural healthcare.
The USDA announced they are investing more than $500 million in sixty projects to improve healthcare infrastructure and services in rural communities nationwide.
Washington’s loan will go towards building an 80,000 square foot hospital in Chelan County to serve more than 75,000 rural residents.
The new facility will provide emergency services, surgery, pediatrics, and mental and behavioral health programs, including opioid treatment and community wellness programs — plus, a helicopter pad for trauma transfers.
