OLYMPIA, Wash. – Whether coronavirus infections continue at a high level or start to decline in Washington is all up to us.
The State Department of Health says one in about 106 Washingtonians has an active case of COVID-19, the highest rate of the entire pandemic.
But the rate is slowing to just over one new infection by each person with the virus.
That’s positive news, but the rate will have to fall well below one new infection and stay there for some time before we’ll see a steep decline.
Experts say the way to reach that is familiar – vaccinate, wear masks indoors and in crowded outdoor settings, and avoid indoor gatherings with people outside of the household as the weather turns.
