OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington State’s eviction moratorium is no longer in effect.
Governor Jay Inslee said at a press conference last week that he would allow the most recent policy to expire on Sunday, October 31st.
Landlords are now able to begin new eviction cases, while also navigating new tenant protection rules.
The Governor added that the state “can’t have an economy where no one pays rent”.
But the end of the eviction policy isn’t all bad news for some Washington residents.
FOX 13 reports that several cities, including Seattle and Kenmore, have their own eviction moratoriums in effect until 2022.
