OLYMPIA, Wash. – It took the legislature three special sessions to make it, but state voters still don’t like a property tax shift to fund schools.

62 percent of voters rejected the measure aimed at satisfying the state Supreme Court’s McCleary Decision. The McCleary Decision ordered the state to better fund K-12 education.

Whatcom County voters agreed with the rest of the state and voted in favor of repealing Engrossed House Bill 2242, along with two other tax measures.

But the votes are only advisory and don’t change the law.
