OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington state Secretary of State Steve Hobbs will be facing several challengers as he runs for re-election.
Hobbs is looking to hang on to the office for the remaining two years of former Secretary of State Kim Wyman’s four-year term.
Wyman was the fifth consecutive GOP secretary of state in Washington, but left for a key election security job in the Biden administration.
Hobbs faces several Republicans and a long-serving elections official from Pierce County, who is running as a non-partisan.
Under the state’s primary system, the top two vote getters advance to the general election in November, regardless of party.
Ballots for the August primaries in Washington state have been mailed to voters and they are due by or must be postmarked no later than August 2nd.
