FERNDALE, Wash. — The Whatcom County Library System unveiled their updated “bookmobile” to bring the joy of the library to remote communities in the county.
They worked with Ferndale-based TriVan Truck Body to design and build the new 34-foot long vehicle that is outfitted with a digital display screen, generator, computer equipment, wheelchair accessible entrance and lots of bookshelves.
The bookmobile is scheduled to visit communities in Birch Bay, Lake Samish, Glenhaven and Wickersham on a weekly basis.
Bookmobile popularity has led to the construction of WCLS locations such as the South Whatcom Library and the upcoming Birch Bay Library,
The WCLS says successful bookmobile stops can help determine where the library may need to grow.
