MAZAMA, Wash.- A 20-year-old Western Washington University student died in a rock climbing fall near Mazama.
It happened at a popular climbing area known as Goat Wall.
The Wenatchee World reports Shelby Withington fell about 500 feet on Monday morning.
The Seattle man was a member of Western’s climbing team and was with some of his teammates, but it was not a team event according to the World.
