BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A rally is planned by several Whatcom County conservative business groups before Tuesday’s County Council meeting.

The groups claim the council’s actions to manage growth and protect the environment threaten jobs, property rights and farms.

Jim McKinney is with one of the groups.

“The list is long. The issues are specific to different groups, but you have to look comprehensively at the entire problem, and the decisions that are being made at our local government level, that are negatively impacting our economy and our people.”

The Council is holding a public hearing on possible changes to Cherry Point’s growth plan.

The rally is being held on Lottie Street near the courthouse at 5:15.
