WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Whatcom County is now accepting applications for a task force that will help plan for the re-opening of the local economy.

Health Department Director Erika Lautenbach says they’re looking for a broad range of input including business owners and employees.

They also want to hear from representatives of businesses that have been open and employing “best practices” during the outbreak.

Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. Thursday, April 30th, and the Public Health Advisory Board will choose task force members on Friday, May 1st, at 2 p.m.

Public comment will be taken at each task force meeting, which will all be held in public with recordings posted on the task force web page.

The first meeting is expected to convene on May 4th.
