BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Ferry riders to Lummi Island will pay a little more starting later this year.
Whatcom County Public works has announced to $1 surcharge on most fares to fund a new ferry and modifications to the terminals.
The Lummi Island Ferry Advisory Committee says the current vessel is nearly 60 years old and approaching the end of its useful life.
The exact date the surcharge will go into effect is yet to be determined.
