BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The rate of local coronavirus infections, hospitalizations and deaths continues to fall in Whatcom County.
The most recent state health department figures show a 7-day rolling average of 20 new first time positive virus tests as of Tuesday, its lowest level since early November.
But Whatcom County Health Department Director Erica Lautenbach says the Whatcom rate is still higher than any other county in the region.
Lautenbach says they’re seeing a decline in infections among the vulnerable 65-and-over age group, likely because of increased vaccine distribution.
Counts continue to increase among people in their 20’s and 30’s.
