WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Corrections Chief Wendy Jones is celebrating 40 years at the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Jones started working at the sheriff’s office in 1981 after earning her bachelor’s in criminology and sociology.

Chief Jones is surprised that she stayed at the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and Corrections because she started working there to help get through school.

In 1986, she was promoted to Corrections Sergeant, she was promoted again Corrections Lieutenant and again in 2002 to Corrections Chief.

Chief Jones passion is for serving those behavioral health needs and she created the position of Mental Health Liaison in the Corrections Bureau.
