WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – The Whatcom County Council is scheduled to decide today, Tuesday, January 11th, on a successor to the late state Senator Doug Ericksen.

Whatcom Republican Party Chair John Ramsey says he and many others hope there are no more delays.

“It’s time now,” said Ramsey. “The additional questions were asked and answered and whether that was right or not is history now. It’s just time to make a selection.”

Republican leaders blasted the council after it failed to act on its three nominees at its meeting last week.

Four council members wanted answers to a list of questions before deciding.

The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.

Senator Ericksen died in December after suffering from COVID-19.
