BELLINGHAM, Wash.- Whatcom County elected officials are getting raises.
The County Council approved the salary commission’s changes Tuesday night.
Councilmember Rud Browne said,”They came up recommended number that includes a increase for a county executive, I think it was the Sheriff and then cost of living increase for every other elected official.”
They all will receive two-percent cost of living increases next year and the year after.
The County Executive and Sheriff will get bigger increases.
In 2019, the Executive will be making $14,000 year more than the current salary.
The Sheriff’s annual salary will increase by seven-thousand-dollars.
