WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – Warm weather and dry conditions are prompting the Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office to issue restrictions on outdoor burning.

Beginning Friday, all land clearing and yard debris burning is banned and burn permits that have been issued will be suspended.

Recreational fires will still be allowed but must only be made with seasoned firewood or charcoal.

They must be in a proper enclosure more than 25 feet from any structure or combustable material, with a water source on hand.

Fires must be attended at all times until completely out and no burning is allowed if winds exceed 7 miles per hour.
